Cat By-law

On June 13, 2006, Council for the Town of LaSalle passed a by-law to restrict the number of cats kept by any person or persons in or about any dwelling to no more than 4.  Notwithstanding this restriction, the by-law does not apply to any person who was lawfully keeping more than 4 cats as of June 13, 2006 so long as that person(s) continues to keep only, and not more than the same cats.  However, this exception only applies to those persons who file with the Clerk of the Town the necessary documentation on or before July 31, 2006.

A copy of the required form is available for viewing/download, or available for pick up from the Clerk’s Office at the Town Hall at 5950 Malden Road.  If anyone is unable to download or pick up the required form, a copy can be mailed upon request.  Any person who has not filed the required documentation with the town, and is found to be keeping more than 4 cats after July 31, 2006 will be in contravention of By-Law No. 6681.

A complete copy of the By-law can be viewed here, or at the Clerk’s Office.  Further information with respect to this matter may be obtained from the Clerk’s office by calling 969-7770 ext 223.
